Just in case you weren’t feeling too old today. The people who are starting college this fall were born in 1991…
- They are too young to remember the space shuttle blowing up..
- The CD was introduced two years before they were born.
- They have always had an answering machine.
- They have always had cable..
- Popcorn has always been microwaved.
- They never took a swim and thought about Jaws.
- They don’t know who Mork was or where he was from.
- McDonald’s never came in Styrofoam containers.

A thief who used a frozen chicken as a tool to break into a cafe was caught after he cut his wrist and was forced to phone an ambulance, Australian police said Wednesday.
The man stole the chicken during an earlier break-in at a butcher’s shop in Macksville, north of Sydney, but came off second best when he tried to use the frozen bird and some rocks to break into a cafe, slashing open his wrist.
The 20-year-old man dialed an emergency 000 number to call an ambulance and was arrested shortly after being treated by paramedics, he said.

Police in South Salt Lake, Utah, have arrested a man they say tried to steal a fire truck so he could drive home — to Washington — for Christmas.
Detective Gary Keller says firefighters on a medical call heard the $500,000 truck’s air horn blaring Monday and ran outside. They found a man in the driver’s seat trying to drive away. After a lengthy struggle, firefighters were finally able to subdue the man until police arrived.
Police say the 25-year-old man told them he wanted to go to Washington to see his mother for Christmas.

A teacher from Austin, Texas confiscated a bunch of CDs containing free Linux distributions from a student who was demonstarting GNU/Linux on his laptop and handing out the CDs. After this, the teacher sent an angry email to Ken Starks of the HeliOS Project, where the student got his Linux CDs from.
“This is a world where Windows runs on virtually every computer and putting on a carnival show for an operating system is not helping these children at all. I am sure if you contacted Microsoft, they would be more than happy to supply you with copies of an older version of Windows and that way, your computers would actually be of service to those receiving them…”

Three Norwegian tourists came under fire and one was shot after the satellite navigation system in their car guided them straight into one of Rio de Janeiro’s most dangerous slums.
The three men cut short their vacation in Brazil and headed home Monday after Trygve Killingtveit, 24, was shot in the shoulder by suspected drug traffickers from one of the gangs that control hundreds of shantytowns in Rio.

A friend of mine (Waldemar for those of you who know him) just sent me
this link to a video about the REAL nature of money and debt and it
goes a long way to explain the current economical crisis we are in but
the video was made in 2006.
The blurb says this: “Paul Grignon’s 47-minute animated presentation
of “Money as Debt” tells in very simple and effective graphic terms
what money is and how it is being created. It is an entertaining way
to get the message out. It as a painless but hard-hitting educational
tool and encourage the widest distribution and use by all groups
concerned with the present unsustainable monetary system in Canada and
the United States”
I have watched it and if it is only half true it is a real eye opener!

A French municipal library has discovered a musical score handwritten by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in its archives, the Nantes town hall said on Thursday.
The one-page work, donated to the town by a private collector at the end of the 19th century, was until recently thought to be a copy rather than an original.
The unpublished score, measuring 16 cm by 29 cm (6.5 by 11.5 inches), is thought to have been written around 1787, according to an expert musicologist from the Mozarteum university in the composer’s native city of Salzburg in Austria.
